And That's the Key

‍If you’re wondering how to make your website really great, you’ve come to the right place! We’ve started to get lots of questions from you all about websites and how to make them great. Web design and maintenance isn’t a service we offer (although we’re more than happy to review your site and give pointers - just ask), so we’re super lucky to have a website expert as one of our partners here at Boundless. She graciously shared with us her top tips for making an excellent website. Vani Gundara is the founder and creative director at Design Spinners! Thanks so much, Vani!

‍Vani’s Website Advice:

Make it Fast - A web page shouldn’t take more than 2 seconds to load. Resize images if they are slowing download time. A slow or outdated website is a sure way to lose potential customers.

‍Make it Simple - Site navigation should be clear and straightforward. The design should be bold, striking, and simple. A simple design lets visitors notice what you want them to see.

‍Make Sure You Ask - Have a clear call to action. Site visitors should know what you want from them, whether it’s “book now” or “schedule a free consultation.”

‍Make It Beautiful - 70% of our sensory input comes from our eyes. We’re hardwired to respond to pleasing design. Specific colors and images evoke certain feelings. Your landing page should capture people’s attention and let users know who you are as a company.

Make It Sound Good - It’s not just graphic design that will make or break a site. The words you choose should evoke the feelings and actions you want to cultivate in your audience.

‍Make It Mobile-Friendly - Don’t forget to design for mobile devices because the vast majority of your visitors will be on a tablet or phone. Play around with features that look amazing on both a desktop and mobile site.

‍Make Sure It’s Optimized - A stunning website is a waste if no one is visiting it. Optimize your site with SEO keywords. Try using a meta tag and title on each page. Remember to put an alt tag on all images since it helps with accessibility.

‍Make Your Brand Memorable - Your brand is more than your logo, slogan, or tagline. It’s the vibe you give off. It’s the things your customers will associate with you and remember about you, so you want to make sure your brand represents you. Once you’ve selected your branding, stick to it. Every inch of your website should represent your brand.

Make Them Trust You - Every website needs a trust-building factor. Include testimonials, statistics, recommendations, reviews, or ratings. Potential clients need to see that others trust you, that you are qualified, and that the data shows your product or service works.

Not all hashtags have to be this cringey. Trust us.

We all know how useful LinkedIn is in landing new clients, which is why you'll want to do everything you can to boost your presence on the platform. Hashtags can help make it easier to connect with people you could work with one day and help you learn more about topics that interest you.

To get started, search for a hashtag at the top of your screen. This search will pull up all the posts that have included the hashtag. Read through these posts to get an idea of what people are talking about when using the hashtag and figure out how you want to use it. You can follow hashtags to make it easier to see posts that use them.

Once you're ready to start writing your post, remember these tips.

  • LinkedIn hashtags should be professional and relevant to the post
  • Your post will show up on the page for every hashtag you use
  • Popular hashtags are competitive, and your content might get drowned by the others. If you want to use a popular hashtag, we recommend using a couple of additional hashtags with a smaller following.
  • You can start your post directly on the page of the hashtag or start your post from your newsfeed.

If you need help figuring out which hashtags are best to use, we'd be happy to help!
